Ingredients
  

  • 2 16-ounce cans pork and beans
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • ¼ cup barbecue sauce
  • 6 slices bacon diced
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • Optional Ingredients:
  • 1 green bell pepper diced
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C). Grease a large baking dish to prevent sticking.
  • In a large bowl, combine the pork and beans, brown sugar, ketchup, barbecue sauce, yellow mustard, and optional ingredients if using. Stir until well mixed.
  • Cook the diced bacon in a skillet over medium heat until partially cooked but not crispy. Drain excess grease.
  • Add the cooked bacon to the bean mixture and stir to combine.
  • Pour the mixture into the greased baking dish. Spread evenly.
  • Bake uncovered for 2 hours and 15 minutes, stirring occasionally for even cooking and flavor development.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For a vegetarian version, substitute bacon with smoked tempeh or omit entirely.
Enhance flavor with a splash of apple cider vinegar or a drizzle of maple syrup.
